HEAVEN, EARTH & EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN
This presentation at Cape Town Art Fair brings together two nascent galleries charting a unique path together. This cross-border, cross-hemisphere presentation is a testament to the collaborative spirit of two women-owned institutions, where the act of working together becomes a playful exploration of shared visions. The presentation titled ‘Heaven, Earth, and Everything In Between’ invites viewers to rediscover the innate joy of play, and to recognize its enduring potential to bridge divides, spark dialogue, and illuminate the shared human experience.
Heaven, Earth, and Everything In Between, is a cross-generational dialogue between Kainebi Osahenye and Nola Ayoola. Showcasing as part of the GENERATIONS 2025 section, this presentation explores the theme of "Play/Play-ing" through the distinct perspectives of an established and emerging artist.
Kainebi, through his evocative paintings, investigates the spaces we inhabit—both physical and psychological—and the figures that populate them. His series "Where will we go" and "We are still here" captures the essence of collective experience. These works prompt reflection on our shared journeys, the silent conversations that shape our identities, and how we navigate these experiences through the act of play.
Ayoola's textile artwork, "Heaven and Earth II" presents a woven interpretation of a world where the tangible and the intangible converge. Through a tactile composition of cotton, organza, and mixed fibers, Ayoola invites viewers into a realm of dreams and memories, where play becomes a tool for understanding our place in the cosmos
